Hey there! My name is Audrey Chaney, and I am the maker here at The Chaney Nest. My husband, Edward (Ed for short), and I got married in September of 2012. We are going on almost 5 years now! We are the smitten parents of 2 precious little boys, (little) Edward Jarvis Chaney (born January of 2014) and Alistair Hartley Chaney (born September of 2016). Ed is my rock – he points me to Christ daily, loves his children unconditionally and consistently keeps smiles on all of our faces. We currently reside in Starkville, MS, home of the Mississippi State Bulldogs. We both attended Mississippi State and decided to stick around because we fell in love with a quaint little church (not just the building, but more so the people) right outside of town. Ed is a banker by day and a lego builder by night. I am a stay at home mom by day and a seamstress by night. We wouldn’t change this season for the world – it’s tough, but so worth it.
There are many reasons I chose to start this little shop of mine. For as long as I can remember, I have loved to create. After my grandmother taught me many of the basics of sewing (way back when!), I made mini purses with fabric provided by my mom who then worked for a furniture company. To raise funds for a mission trip I took to Ghana in college, I handmade journals and headbands. To say that I now have my own little business doesn’t even seem real. Seeing my ideas and goals come to fruition has been so humbling as well as such a blessing. All of my pieces have been carefully curated and thoughtfully prepared. I hope you and your little ones enjoy the items I have poured my heart into. A big shout out goes to my dad, Mike Hartley, for creating my website and making it all I could imagine and more.
Another reason I felt called to start this endeavor is because Ed feels a deep call to the ministry, however, we found out that seminary is quite expensive after we added up all of the numbers. I thought this would be a very small way that I could help. The name ‘The Chaney Nest’ came from a heart that desired for this not only to be a children’s clothing shop but also to be a hub for you to join along with us as a family for a ride in this thing we call LIFE. In the time to come you will be able to access our blog where you will find some of our very favorite recipes, family vacation photos and things that inspire us. We strive to live simply with two main goals: to glorify God by enjoying Him forever and to make Jesus known. I hope in this endeavor you will see the love, light, and laughter we share as a family and with all who surround us.
